Twenty years ago, a local eighteen-year old entered the Hashim Khan qualification draw at the Denver Athletic Club in Colorado. usopensquash.com Nearly two hundred guests came to Women in Sports Day to honor Alicia McConnell, the recipient of the US Squash President’s Cup during the 2015 Delaware Investments U.S. Open Squash Championships at Drexel University. Women in Sports Day began with an exciting squash practice at Drexel. A dozen girls from SquashSmarts, the Philadelphia urban squash program, trained with Drexel squash coach Kelsey Engman and PSA stars Jenny Duncalf, Dipika Pallikal and Donna Urquhart. National Doubles Draws Gallery For the ninth time in the tournament’s eighty-one years, Buffalo, New York, hosted the U.S. Squash Doubles Championships this weekend at the Buffalo Club, Buffalo Tennis & Squash Club, Computer Task Group and Saturn Club. Students from six NUSEA programs have traveled to Colorado for the fourth annual Urban Doubles Championships this week. The week includes a camp-style program with squash and extracurricular activities, which then culminates in the Urban Doubles Championships tournament Friday. Over two hundred family members and acquaintances honored the late Hashim Khan in a public memorial service Saturday, August 23, at the Denver Athletic Club—Khan’s home club of forty years.
